Round
Square is a global association of schools which share a commitment, beyond
academic merit, to personal growth, and responsibility through service,
challenge, adventure and international understanding which ultimately seeks
to empower students to become leaders and guardians of tomorrow’s
world. Schools are expected to attend an annual international
conference hosted by a member school. The conference is a forum to
experience cultural differences, create global friendships and to be addressed
by relevant and influential speakers. Such conferences generate
opportunities for debate and personal exploration and are life changing
experiences.
The International Round Square Conference
hosted by The Regent’s School Pattaya, 9th to 15th
October 2010, was a huge success and every student and adult involved in
the organization of the conference is extremely proud of what they have
been able to achieve. All 72 participating schools from 23 different
countries and 5 community partners from around Thailand left the Regent’s
with a real sense of inspiration and challenge to make a difference through
the theme: ‘We Walk Together’.
The success of the conference was based
upon passionate student leadership and the determination of delivering a
community service focused conference. From the very first day
Regent’s students were leading, performing and inspiring at every
opportunity. Many thanks must go to all the students, staff, parents
and community partners for the excellent work that they do on a daily basis
and therefore what we were able to achieve throughout this conference
week. Special mention must go to the We Express Together evening
which was dubbed by HM King Constantine as “the best ever cultural show
performed at an international conference.” Great credit
must go to Amit Garg (student steering committee Chair) and Jin Geun Lee in
thinking up, planning and delivering such a quality show on top of all
their other student steering committee duties.

“I have been attending these Round Square
events…… since 1990 and I can truthfully say that none has…… and none
has challenged me more to consider the relevance of what I am doing
and my school is doing.” …… “It is heartening to see the IDEALS
pillars of Round Square so truly
embedded at the centre of school life.” Duncan Hossack,
Head of Lower School, Saint Andrew’s
School, Florida USA. For more feedback
