There are five main steps in the application process, although these vary slightly depending upon the age of your child.
Step 1: Visiting the school
Step 2: The Application
Step 3: Assessment
Step 4: Offer of a place
Step 5: Acceptance & guarantee of a place
Step 1: Visiting the school
We welcome visitors to the school at any point in the year, although we do ask that you book your visit in advance through the Admissions Office so that we can make arrangements for you to meet key members of staff on the day. Staff from the Admissions Office will be on hand throughout your visit to answer any questions which you might have.
During the course of a pre-booked visit you will have an opportunity to meet the Principal or one of the Heads of School (Head of Early Years, Primary or Secondary). You will be given a tour of the school and its facilities and be welcome to enter classrooms to see the teachers and pupils at work. If you would like to meet a particular member of staff on the day – for instance, the Head of ESL (English as a Second Language), the Head of Music or the Head of Learning Support, this can be arranged (subject to the teacher’s timetable).

Step 2: The Application
If you decide to apply for a place at The Regents for your son or daughter, the next step is to submit an Application. Please note, this is not a commitment on your part to accept a place, nor does it represent a formal offer from the school.
To submit an Application you will need to complete our Application Form and pay an Application Fee of 5,500THB. Your Application can either be:
- Submitted on the day of your initial visit;
- Returned by e-mail, with the Application Fee paid by bank transfer; or
- Submitted to the Admissions Office on the day of Assessment
In order to complete the Application, there are certain documents which we require from you before your son or daughter can be assessed, including copies of previous school reports. A full list can be found here.
Step 3: The Assessment
The Assessment takes place within school by appointment (for families based overseas, please click here for information on sitting the assessments from your country of residence).
For entry to Early Years
The assessment takes the form of a simple 60 minute ‘taster’ session in the classroom. This gives both you and the classroom teacher the chance to confirm that your son or daughter is happy and comfortable there. Please note, it is a requirement that children are toilet-trained and no longer breast- or bottle-fed before entering the school
For entry to the Primary School
The assessment takes the form of a verbal and written appraisal of your child’s English language ability. This is important for both children who have English as a first language and those who do not, for it allows us to understand which class he or she would be most suited to. If your child has not met the Head of Primary School on an earlier visit, this will also take place on the day.
For entry to the Secondary School
The assessment takes the form of two written tests: one in Mathematics and one in English. If your child has not met the Head of Secondary School on an earlier visit, this will also take place on the day.
Step 4: Offer of a place
We will usually be able to confirm on the day of Assessment whether we are able to offer your son or daughter a place at The Regent’s School Pattaya. We will also send you written confirmation of the offer of a place, typically within 48 hours of the Assessment.
Please note, in the case of a student applying to enter Year 12 to study the International Baccalaureate, the offer of a place will be conditional on the student gaining appropriate grades in his or her public examinations. In the case of students who are sitting IGCSE examinations, this would be five or more IGCSEs at grades A* to C.
Step 5: Acceptance and Guarantee of a place
If you wish to accept the offer of a place at The Regent’s School Pattaya, we ask that you do so within two weeks of receiving the formal offer letter.
Your child’s place will only be guaranteed if you have paid the non-refundable Enrolment Fee within two weeks of being offered the place. If you choose not to pay the Enrolment Fee and that Year Group becomes over-subscribed your child’s place may be offered to another pupil.
